Tucked in a conservation building that used to be the Joo Chiat police station is the new ballroom concept restaurant Banafe' Cafe. Serving Halal American and Mexican comfort food, the menu offers traditional Mexican dishes with a twist of American food influence.
Start off by quenching your thirst with Banafe' blueberry Mojito – a mocktail with a hint of mint and blueberries which makes it so refreshing. Dishes to look out for will be the Blue crab cakes served with a dollop of spicy mayonnaise .The crab cakes is filled with chunk of crab meat making it worth the price.
Another star appetizer on the menu will be the Barbequed shrimps. The secret to this dish is the jumbo shrimps are serve with a rich and creamy barbequed butter sauce with a hint of Cajun spice which makes it not too spicy for guest to enjoy. For the mains selection go straight for the USDA prime rib eye. The steak is so good you do not need any condiments to go along with it.
The Texas beef ribs is a slab of ribs served with hickory bbq sauce which is the chef secret recipe. Do order in advance as only limited slabs are available daily.
Banafe' also offers a seafood selection of broiled salmon and Boston Lobster rolls. Do not leave if you have not tasted the dessert. The chocolate molten cake is a must have in all American restaurant.
The heart of the house is run by 2 experienced young Malay chefs which have worked in many well known established restaurant in Singapore. Banafe' main goal is to let the Malay community experience halal western cuisine with a grand ambience which were not available before.
